A 21st Century Cottage

 Boutique-Homes

Every autumn I try to go to New England to see the breathtakingly beautiful fall foliage. Of course, we have the leaves changing colors here in New Jersey too, but nothing like in New England. As I was investigating places to stay, I came across a quaint Airbnb called Harbor Cottage. The owners, Fiona and Tom Hooper bought the former 1930's general store on the coast of Maine in 1992, and with the help of architect Sheila Narusawa renovated it into a 21st century cottage that celebrates its interesting history, its expansive views and its owner's personal touches.

Harbor Cottage enjoys stunning views of the sea through its large original general store windows. The open floor plan, exposed beams, white shiplap walls, light woodwork and the minimally decorated interior beautifully blends effortlessly into the surrounding landscape. The home is furnished with french linens, American and European antiques and personal objects collected from Fiona's own travels. Harbor Cottage Maine consists of two separate houses (the larger, main house called Harbor Cottage and the smaller house called the Guest House) located next to each other in a single property on the edge of a quiet tidal bay.
