A Natural & Relaxed Christmas

 Hus & Hem

Mikael and Sandra Nilsson have a relaxed approach to Christmas. Decorating is completed in good time. Greenery comes from a relative's forest and consists of pines and mosses. Hyacinths, apple cloves and gingerbread cookies permeate their warm and relaxed 1940's Swedish home. Their decorating style reflects their overall approach to life. They aren't in any rush. There are no pretentious intentions, but rather, a natural and evolving spontaneity. They have lived in this house for eleven years and let the renovating of their dream home happen over time. It has slowly changed from a classic box-shaped 40's style house to a personal home filled with reclaimed wood floors, antique cabinets, handmade furniture and second-hand finds. Natural materials like linen, wool and sheepskin bask in the warm glow of the flickering candlelight.

Sandra loves Christmas traditions. Her Christmas decor is always natural and relaxed. She makes her own wreaths and decorates with pine branches in urns and buckets. The traditional advent candles sit in an old wooden bowl filled with walnuts. Flea market finds, antiques, re-used floor boards and brackets along with no-fuss sprigs of evergreens and paper stars are the perfect ingredients of a natural and relaxed Christmas that give this Swedish home a warm authentic feeling.
