A Simple Danish Summer Cottage

 Bolig Magasinet

When Danish architect Lone Backs and his wife Nels Rasmussen want to escape from their busy lives, they only have to drive 25 minutes to experience thire much desired peace and tranquility. Lone and Nels have spent 10 years lovingly renovating their little cottage in Ellinge Lyng at Sejero Bay. They intentionally kept the design simple and primitive. They wanted a sense of freedom from everyday worries. The mini-cottage is an oasis that can actually be lived in and used. The furniture reflects flea-market finds and objects collected over years. The atmosphere is cozy and simple. There is a small mini-kitchen. The outside bathroom (which they consider a charming attribute) is primitive, using solar panels to heat the water. There are two terraces that allow the small cottage to feel expansive. They are used as extra living space for sleeping and entertaining under a sail. This slightly primitive mini summer cottage is the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy a simple way of living.
