A Tranquil Aussie Farmhouse

 Country Style Magazine

A family farmhouse in Conondale Station, Australia is lovingly restored yet still rooted in memories and family history. This 80 year old Queenslander's transformation was undertaken by Maree Duncombe after the death of her parents, Peter and Nora. Realizing that it was going to be a lot of work, her motivation was to create a beautiful space she would never want to leave.

Maree loved living here with her parents and brother. They originally bought the house in 1995. She sought to capture the quiet and natural setting of the landscape of the property. A clean all-white interior was the result seeking inspiration from modern farmhouse ideas found on Pinterest. Her color palette encompassed the natural greys and whites found outside her window. Large doors were installed to allow the natural light in. Unique and original pieces from the property are found in every room such as the red cedar dining table made from Conondale Station timber and old rails from the cattle yard featured in the bathroom. Mixing old with new and keeping furniture to a minimum, this Aussie farmhouse is a tranquil sanctuary that embodies everything Maree Duncombe loves.
