On the west coast of Ireland a young couple transformed their existing
out-dated cottage into a modern stylish abode. They worked with
architect Stephen Walton to renovate and extend their Menlo, Galway home
with the goal of making it more conducive to their modern life. Owners
Deirdre and Evan Noone wanted to keep the character of the original
building while introducing light and a new open floor plan. The home
features original rustic elements like exposed stone and wooden doors
along with industrial and modern materials like vintage tractor seats
for stools and colorful textiles. Many of the furniture pieces reflect
Deirdre's eclectic style combining found objects with modern whimsical
touches. It is a wonderful mix of old and new that reflects perfectly
this young couple's funky modern style.
