A Scandi Easter

 @angsheminrederi.se

When it comes to decorating for Easter, I love how the Scandi's do it. Simple, natural and minimal. It doesn't take too much imagination, time or money. But the outcome is instant style. Here are a few simple and inspiring ideas that you can easily incorporate into your own home this Easter.

 My Scandinavian Home

Simple tulips, spring flowers or the classic harbinger of spring, pussy willows are elegant and natural. Just place them in a clear glass vase as a sleek and modern holiday arrangement. Or, incorporate them into your table setting for a natural look.

Another beautiful and natural Scandi look for Easter are tulip bulbs in a clear glass vase or just on the surface of the container. This is very trendy and modern!

And don't forget the eggs! The Scandi's use eggs in many different forms from hanging cutouts to simple painted ones. Natural white, black and white, and light brown eggs are a Scandi Minimimalist's Easter staple.

The Interiors Lady

Just wanted to share some gorgeous interior shots of one of my favorite accounts that I follow on Instagram. It's @theinteriorslady, and I promise you, this account is a stunner. It features interior and product stylist Helen Orrock's Victorian home in Nottingham, UK. She is currently renovating the once tired, dated and cluttered house and bringing it back to life. I love Helen's minimal aesthetic that is tranquil and simple. She pretty much uses the same color palette of white walls with black and gray furnishings in each room. She makes an effort to only buy things she needs and to reuse furniture and accessories from her old house. Her motto is, "if I need it and it serves a purpose and I'll use it, then I'll buy it, otherwise don't." Take a look. I guarantee you'll become a follower too.

Modern Swedish Country Style

 Sandrashem

As I scan the accounts of Instagram and Pinterest lately, I find myself drawn more and more to images reflecting the modern Swedish cottage style. "What is modern Swedish country style?" you ask. Well, according to me, it is one of the most beautiful, calming and relaxing design styles that exists. It finds its origins in the Gustavian Provincial aesthetic (1850s-1920s). The Gustavian style is similar to the neoclassical Louis XIV French style, but less opulent. After visiting the Palace of Versailles in the 1780's King Gustav of Sweden decided to replicate what he saw at home. The Gustavian style, however, is a more pale version of the French style with muted color palettes and pared back soft furnishings. The soft pale colors of grays and blues are meant to brighten up dark rooms during long Scandinavian winters. The Gustavian Provincial style (or Swedish country) is similar to French Provincial. It is less formal, softer and relaxed. But, it isn't cutesy. It is relaxed, yet stylish.You won't find checks or stripes or anything purposely distressed. Materials are organic, walls and floors are white, and mid-century modern and trendy elements often make an appearance. Overall, a wide variety of objects and textures are used to create a relaxed, comfortable and modern space.
