Tomorrow is September 1st, and for me, autumn officially begins. I'm sad to leave the warm, light-filled days of summer with hues of hazel, olive green, light blues and flaxen. As anxious as I am for fall to arrive, I'm always hesitant to over decorate. I want to savor the beginning, the middle and the end of the fall season. In September, I love to use subtle touches in my interior decor. I'll save the hearty pumpkins, fall leaves and mums for October and the turkeys and pilgrims for November. Here are some inspiring examples of decorating with subtle touches of fall...
I love using simple yellow flowers like daisies and sunflowers to add small touches of fall color.
Dried flowers, dried wheat and grasses are perfect for fall.
Soft neutral plaids with beiges and whites give a subtle harvestey farmhouse feel.
Adding warm blankets as well as any kind of dried flowers and vegetables will warm up an interior and make things warm and cozy.
Use what is in season to decorate: Apples!
One of my favorite objects that instantly warms up a room is a lantern!
Add fun elements with subtle neutral colors. This banner is from Target!
And of course, there are always little white pumpkins to sneak forward to October!
