The traditional style of architecture of the Cycladic Islands dates back to 2000 BC. The most prominent characteristic of this architectural style, are the white-washed, smooth-edged cube houses built on steep cliffs overlooking the turquoise Aegean Sea. On the island of Paros, architects Natasha Deliyianni and Yiorgos Spiridonos of React Architects present a modern twist on this classic Cycladic aesthetic.
Unlike the soft edges of ancient Cycladic structures, Maison Kamari is defined by tall stark white walls and sharp edges. Staircases are intentionally placed to lead directly to the pool below or up to the rooftop deck. The interior is kept simple featuring natural colored linens and decor that reflect the warm tones of the exterior landscape. The furniture is a mix of mid-century pieces and found flea market finds that create a soft restrained bohemian style.
